Last we spoke, I was doing a little weaving. Lo and behold, I’m still at it!

Lightening up!

Over & under we go!

Over & under we go!

I started the project weaving with some purples, moved into some browns and now finally, I’ll use some greens! It’s an excellent way to end a project!

Here comes the rag shuttle!

Love some green!

Love some green!

One of the best feelings ever is seeing the knotted yarns coming around the back of the loom! It means the end is in sight! So close!

Happiness is seeing the knots!

Happiness is seeing the knots!

And there’s always the rounds of fabric and yardsticks in the front to remind me of progress!

Lots of yardsticks doing their job!

I love it when you’re right at the end of the project, and you can see all the way through the loom – from the fabric in the front, to the yarns tied to the rod in the back! Lovely!

The end is near!

The end is near!

There’s always some waste in weaving. As you can tell from the picture above, you aren’t able to use every inch since you have to keep the tension on the yarns. And at a certain point, the yarns don’t separate enough to slide the shuttle through. That’s how you know it’s time to cut it off!

Cutting it off

Cutting it off

There are 2 occasions in weaving when I always have to stop, take in a big breath, and say a little prayer. One is before I put any project in the washing machine, and two is before I start cutting it off the loom! It’s a little intimidating! But, it can’t stay on the loom forever – so here goes!

Almost free!

Almost free!

And once it’s off the loom, it rapidly uncoils – just like a good spin of the toilet paper roll! I’ll sort through the fabric/yardstick soup and show you the finished goods next time! Talk to you soon…
