OK, so I met some lovely new friends last Friday at a holiday show, and one of them mentioned that he hoped my company name was “Unbeweaveable”! Ha! How funny is that? I told him right then and there that I would be stealing it for the blog! Thank you, Adam!

Yarn for the next project!

And on with the show! Next on the docket is a custom table runner for a friend of my Dad’s. Custom projects are fun because it gets me out of my usual mindset. Different colors, different type of weave, different end result!

Measuring it on the warping board

Measuring it on the warping board

For this project, I’ll be creating a narrow table runner to sit on a console table. The colors will match the sofa. (At least, that’s the plan! He lives many states away. So, I’m making a guess at it from the photos he sent! Fingers crossed!)

The yarns go on in order

I use a warping board to measure everything out. It’s an easy tool to work with, but it does take up a bit of space. So, if you are pondering purchasing one, keep that in mind! Great tool – takes up a small closet!

So warm and yummy!

The couch I’m matching contains all sorts of strong, masculine colors – chocolate, gold, olive, cream! All the essentials! And, right in my wheelhouse!

Keeping count

Keeping count

To keep track of my count, I use a yarn in a complimentary color and wrap it around bundles of 12 or 24 – whatever works! This project will be 9″ wide in the loom, but it is a much denser weave! So, there are still lots of yarns to count!

Twisting it off the warping board

To get the project off the warping board as gracefully as possible, I start at the bottom of the board and twist the yarn up to the top!

Ready to come off!

So, the yarn’s off the warping board and the reed’s ready for sleying! Stay tuned – more weaving fun to follow!!!
