It’s time to discuss leaning into the odds when it comes to design in weaving. You see, as weavers, it is very easy to get caught up in the technicalities and the function of creating fabric.
But we are not only technicians, my friend. Nope! We are also creatives and artists. And because of this fabulous other side, it is important to pick up a few design fundamentals so we can not only create a functioning piece of fabric, but also a beautiful piece of art.
Therefore, today I’m kicking off an ongoing series about design in weaving – starting with leaning into the odds. You’re going to love it!
Show Notes –
Rule of Odds – I found a lovely photography-focused blog about the Rule of Odds. And it ties right into our conversation today! What’s fun about design is that it applies across the board – weaving, painting, photography, graphic design, etc. These basic fundamentals are good, no matter which topic you want to apply them to. Check it out right here.
Color of the Year – While you are deciding how to use our odd design concept, you may want to incorporate the 2024 Pantone Color of the Year! At the time this video is released, we are already halfway through the year and there is no time like the present! So, click here to learn more about our lovely color.
Weaving Freebies –
Have you checked out the Free Resources page of the Acton Creative website, yet? Oooh, are you in for a treat! There is a strong line-up of great .pdfs just waiting for you! This is the spot that will zip you over to them.
