Happy 2012! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to an exciting new year! It seems appropriate to kick off a new year with a new project, don’t you think?
So, here’s what I have for you! I have begun a new bolt of fabric that will eventually become more handbags! Because the last batch of bags was very light colors (and I don’t always love the pastels – especially pink!), it is making me very happy to work with just the opposite. Dark greens, blues, rust, chocolate, black – it’s all good!
When creating fabric, I almost always use cotton yarn called rug warp or carpet warp. It comes in 1/2 pound tubes, instead of cones. They offer a million colors and for this type of project, it’s perfect! I’ve included a couple pictures so you can see exactly what I’m referring to.
I’ll keep you posted on my progress so you can watch the fabulous transformation from yarn to fabric to handbags – it’ll be great fun! Happy Weaving! chris
