Let’s burn stuff! In episode 117 of A Handwoven Experience, I’m talking about how to determine your unknown fiber.

In an exciting twist of fate, one of the easiest ways to do that is using the burn test. So, get out your lighter, a sink full of water (safety first!!), and your mystery fiber, and let’s do this!

Show Notes –

Thank you, Jamie!! – I have a fabulous community of generous fiber-lovers. It’s one of my greatest joys, hands down! So when I had the idea to try out the burn test, I instantly reached out to Jamie who was much more knowledgeable than me in this department. Jamie forwarded a link to a knitting blog called “Knitting Board”, which gave me a perfect starting point on how to identify your unknown fiber! So if you’d like to see more on the burn test, I’ll let you borrow Jamie’s wisdom and guidance! Here is the link to her recommended blog.

Spacing an Unknown Yarn – In the previous episode, I started the conversation of what to do with a mystery yarn in a video called, “Spacing an Unknown Yarn”. There, I provided you with a strategy for how to appropriately determine the sett for a new, unknown fiber. Just in case you missed it, click here to take you right to it.
