Have you heard the term, “beginner’s mindset”? Today we’re going to explore what it means and how it can help.

My favorite part of just about any project is the beginning. I love creating something new, exploring endless possibilities and seeing where my imagination takes me. Beginnings are exciting.

But I find that after practicing a craft for a while, be it weaving or anything else, I can start to get a little too comfortable. I stop thinking of the possibilities. I stop growing. Does this happen to you?

In this episode of A Handwoven Experience I explore tips for staying in a beginner’s mindset. Sometimes we need to stop, look around, and remember that there’s always something new to explore, no matter how experienced we may be. Happy weaving!

Show Notes –

Calm app – In today’s episode, I referenced a great post from the Calm app. It dives even deeper into the many ways a beginner’s mindset can help us. It’s a great read right here!

Getting inspired – You know, there are a lot of hours when we’re not weaving. But that time can still be used to give us a leg up when we next sit down to throw a shuttle. Check out this jewel of an episode all about, “Becoming a Better Weaver When You Aren’t Weaving”.

Summer Weaving Camp –

Summer is a great time to learn new things! If you’re ready to dive in to the wonderful world of weaving (or know someone who is) then my Acton Creative Summer Weaving Camp is just for you!

Over the course of 5 days (June 23-27) we will introduce you to the basics of weaving, teach you some weaving terms, show how you can use handwoven fabric in other crafts, and most importantly, have a fun activity every day (because the best part of camp is the fun part!). Perfect for anyone new to weaving or weaving-curious. Ready to jump in? Go to https://tinyurl.com/weavingcamp for more information & to register.
