In today’s episode of A Handwoven Experience, I’m making the case for lace. Yes, in my humble opinion, lace is a great pattern for any beginner to dive into. And episode 56 will walk you through exactly why.
Whether you try Bronson, Huck, Swedish, or any other variation, I hope you have fun diving into this unique style of weaving pattern. Enjoy!
Show Notes –
All about lace – I found a brilliant article written by Karen Donde all about lace weaving patterns. She talks about her history with it, and how to sort through which lace is best for you. It’s very informative! Take a look here to get started on your lace journey!
Setting up your lace project – Not that long ago, I happily released an episode of A Handwoven Experience all about reading a weaving draft. This will come in handy as you set up your loom for your project.
Don’t forget the floating selvedges! – I didn’t mention it in today’s video, but there is a VERY good chance you’ll need some floating selvedges for your project. Unless you specifically add a plain weave border, plan to incorporate a pair of reliable floating selvedges. Your entire experience will be much more pleasant!
Now, you!
Have you tried lace before? If so, what’s been your experience?
