Every weaver has experienced the frustration of not-so-straight weaving edges. Especially in the beginning, it seems like this mystical phenomena only the few and the experienced can achieve.
Well, I’m here to debunk that myth. In this week’s episode of A Handwoven Experience, I’m walking you through 2 major elements that determine if you’ll have straight weaving edges.
Take a look at episode 68 right here.
Show Notes –
Good selvedges – Boy, Jane Stafford is great at jamming lots of information into a simple blog post! I found a fantastic one about creating great selvedges (edges) and I’m sharing it with you right here. I always learn a little something new when I’m hanging out with Jane! (Online, I mean… I have no doubt she’s lovely, but I haven’t met her in person, yet. I’ll keep you posted!)
Check the shed – Your weaving shed (the space you create by lifting some of your warp yarns) will influence your edges – it’s all connected. So if you’re looking for a bit of refresher on the shed, look no further! Episode 60 is dedicated completely to this topic. You can brush up on the good stuff here!
What is your trick to creating straight, even weaving edges?
