Have you ever admired a glamorous houndstooth check coat and thought, “Wow, what a pattern!”? Turns out, it’s easy to recreate with just a few tips! And today I’m giving you the official Houndstooth How-To so you can sit down at a loom to weave your own.

Take a look at everything houndstooth in episode 78.

Show Notes –

History of Houndstooth – I found a lovely blog post about the history of houndstooth from the SCAD Connector, an editorial and student news publication for the Savannah College of Art & Design Atlanta. In it, the contributor Artesia Rose, explains some of the background and how this pattern is important from a fashion perspective. (They get an extra point for including the word “tessellation”. Nice job!) Take a look through the article right here.

Different types of Twill – There’s a big ‘ole world of twill out there and it’s fun to think of a houndstooth check as occupying a small corner of it. But, if you aren’t familiar with a balanced twill (aka, 2/2 twill), never fear! Episode 51 will walk you through it. Simply click this link to learn all about it.
